Tips From Paul: #5 Roaring Tiger Hidden Problem

If you've ever lived in a home with wood siding that has been painted both dark and light colors you may have noticed that at certain times you can see stripes of the old color at the overlap or joints in the siding. As the wood dries out it will shrink just a bit exposing previously covered areas (which may not have been when it was painted). This shrinkage not only causes visual stripes at the newly exposed areas but also can put stress on caulking around penetrations. Take some time to review your siding and make sure the caulking isn't cracking or gaps have appeared that could use some caulk. Catch these issues now and avoid a costly repair when your structural wall framing rots due to leaks. Call Moceri Construction if you have any questions!
